Obituary of Louise Marlene McKee

It is with profound sadness that the family of Louise M McKee, age 72, of Hampton NB, announce her death which occurred on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Saint John Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Louise was born in Halifax to Bill and Jean (Pitts) McKee, July 11th, 1947. She was a graduate of Mount St. Vincent Academy and Mount St. Vincent University. She knew early in her career she wanted to be a teacher, one who helped students learn, set goals and achieve their future. Louise spent her entire teaching career in Nova Scotia schools in Chester, New Germany and Gold River. Upon her retirement, she moved to Hampton to be with her mother. She quickly became involved in her church and new community. She was an active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and practiced her very strong faith and devotion to God. Because of her organisational skills and knowledge, her caring and compassionate nature, she headed many ministries within the church. She was an integral member of the team when we welcomed our refugees. Louise was a dedicated volunteer of the Hampton Food Basket for many years and served on the Board of Directors. She delivered Meals on wheels and worked with Alternative Measures in conjunction with the RCMP and the Dept. of Justice. Louise often visited and shared her cooking with people not feeling up to par. She was a very busy person who never expected anything in return. She was a truly remarkable lady! In 2016 she was awarded the Helen Parchello Community Volunteer Award from the Community Club for the Town of Hampton. Louise also tutored students, assisting with proper learning techniques and the importance of graduating with a diploma. She was a mentor to many. Louise was also a member of Communities in Bloom. She was an accomplished gardener, as shown by her beautiful yards, which displayed many varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers. Walking through her gardens was a real joy. As a cat lover, Morgan and Hunter could be seen following her throughout the gardens enjoying their time in the sun. She was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her brother Bill and sister–in law Debbie Hanley McKee of Fall River NS, and many cousins. She was especially close to her cousin Paula Justason, Quispamsis, and lifelong friends Darrell and Linda Hiltz of New Ross, NS. Louise had so many close friends who loved her dearly and will truly miss her. We would like to extend a special thank you to Patti and Norman, for their love and care of Louise, especially during the past months. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 22 Church St., Hampton, NB. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations in memory of Louise be made to Blessed Trinity Parish or the Hampton Food Basket. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of 5CN and 3B, Saint John Regional Hospital, for their professionalism and understanding at a most difficult time. We will love you always Louise. God be with you.
